PostSubject: Touchdown [Open]   Touchdown [Open] EmptySat Oct 04, 2014 9:45 pm

Blonde hair, green eyes, blue shawl and dress with gold trimming and white details; the young girl stood amongst a handful of others in a confined glass pod as they dropped stories below the Earth's crust. Her name was June Kurosawa, a recent graduate from a school of China above ground. She was orphaned long ago but always had someone there to take care of her, making sure she still was able to have a life her own. She was not quite ordinary, gifted—or cursed if you would have it—with a spiritual power. The girl held her luggage close by to her, thankful at least to have it run on wheels as opposed to those who would strap it to their back and have to tote it around all day; she wasn't the strong type anyways. None of the elevator's occupants really spoke to each other, each no doubt coming from their own walk of life and not so interested in the stories of the other few, June included. Besides, a much more compelling distraction arrived in the form of a architectural marvel, a sight to behold through the glass casing that caused all five to come close to the pane and look down upon it. There were gasps from June's neighbors, one of them whispering a simple wow in response to witnessing it. The blonde herself placed her hands lightly upon the glass, followed by her forehead, so that the breath escaping her mouth fogged the window slightly, but not nearly enough to conceal the gloriousness of this sight. Here lied the bustling underground city; the shelter of heroes; Hephaestus Academy

''Welcome, students and visitors alike, to the prestigious Hephaestus Academy.''

June was surprised, as the glass of the elevator suddenly became a screen, zapping her with static as the pixels came to life with color. She, along with the others, backed up to see the welcoming face of a matured woman televised across the pane, greeting them to the school no doubt. She had hair like the raven, pulled back tightly into a ponytail behind her head, and dressed in an overly formal black suit that was plain in all ways except for the signet that was sown over her heart: A banner juxtaposed by vines, with a large 'H' imprinted onto the face. ''In just a few moments, you will step into a new society of strange and mystical phenomena, where humans like you and I can discover a hidden potential within. We here at Hephaestus shelter and raise a new generation of humans who can achieve new heights no ordinary being could ever achieve, and we seek to bring out the best in those people. As a student, you will be given all the tools you need to thrive with your unique talents, from quarters and food to mental enrichment and general comforts. It's up to you to take a hold of your power, and graduate to become a part of this great new world. Now, go on, and good luck...''

The image flashed away, rendering the glass colorless and translucent again, and by now June could see that the elevator had settled to the ground without her even feeling it. The welcoming speech that was given to them by who was presumably the headmistress of the academy was neat, but ultimately trite. Those who were on their way down here already knew what this all was and what it meant, so of course no one would be emotionally phased by her words... or so June thought until one of the boys next to her started shaking another in excitement, practically squealing in glee. The blonde glanced his way and gave him a subtly supercilious look, making sure to take a few sidesteps away from him so that she didn't become the next victim of his fangirlish assaults. Finally, the sound of something coming unclasped reverberated through the glass container, and a seam formed in the glass that was completely invisible before. The window was split down the middle and began sliding open, making the two sides recede into the adjacent walls of the elevator to open the way up. The one squealing boy rushed out first with his massive backpack towering above his head, blasting off like a rocket into the bustling undercity while the other four were left behind. Calmly, and orderly, they all walked out, their heads turning all around to continue sight-seeing as if they had not gotten enough of it on the way down. It truly was a masterpiece, whoever built this Academy... June couldn't help but be a little excited about being here. Then, of course, came the calls throughout the crowd: ''Hey, look! The next batch has arrived!'' and ''The new students are here!''

She would have liked to avoid the attention, honestly, but with so few people along for the ride with her this day, such a prospect seemed unlikely. So, instead, she simply put her happy face on.

Touchdown [Open] 2qmg382

"I swear, I'm going to give Aunt Misa a piece of my mind when I get out of this..." She felt her knees knocking together out of nervousness, staring at the large elevator that slowly descended towards the ground underneath it. There were a mass of new students inside of that--even though Michiko had been here for less than a year, apparently her aunt had decided that she was to be involved in this--"For the good of your confidence,"--or some bullshit like that. She sighed softly, looking down at the sheet of paper in her fingers and reading the two names again and again, looking at the images with a worried expression. These people looked interesting enough--the first name on her paper was that of a Miss June Kurosawa. The image given was a rather staunch-looking youth. She seemed cute, but Michiko wasn't sure. She sighed softly, looking at the next image--Kira Wakabayashi. This one was a little bit cuter than June, Michiko noted. She seemed to see something in the girl's eyes, but quickly shrugged it off to look back up at the elevator that had finally touched down. The crowd waited for a moment, before the doors opened and the people started to stream out. She looked through the group, trying to see if she could find who she was looking for--but it didn't quite seem to be enough. She got up on her tip-toes and tried to look over heads, but still could not find anything. She bit her bottom lip, worried that she was going to disappoint people--that was, until, she finally noticed the young woman starting to leave the elevator.

Blonde hair, green eyes, blue clothing--she could be recognized immediately as June Kurosawa. Michiko skipped forwards slightly, working her way around the crowds until she was certain that she was in June's line of sight. She took in a deep breath, sucked up as much confidence as she could muster, and reached up into the air, waving to June to get her attention. "June, over here!" She probably had not been heard over the noise of the crowd, so she continued to step forwards until she met up with the youth. She still could not see Kira, however that was not a problem at this moment in time. She took in another deep breath and toddled up to meet with her, giving her the best smile that she could muster; even as her knees knocked together. She felt the presence of Ayame but ignored it, instead simply continuing to give her smile to June. "Hello, I'm your greeter, Michiko. I've been assigned to show you around Academy City, and to bring you to your room." She nodded and looked around slightly, "Now... there's one more student that I've been assigned to. Where is she?" She raised her voice, "Wakabayashi Kira? Wakabayashi Kira?" Oh god this was scary.

Kira Wakabayashi was an athletic young woman. Her bright red hair was pulled back into a pony tail. Her clothing was quite casual, so she didn't stick out of the crowd too much. She wore nothing more than tight blue jeans to show off her lower half and a tight red basketball jersey with her old school name printed along the front. Kira was standing in the back of the glass case as they descended into the city. She tried getting a few good looks, but the others sort of stepped up before her. Those taller than her didn't exactly give her a way to really enjoy the view. Kira gave up about half the way down when a screen popped up, startling the other students and herself. Everyone seemed to listen intently to the speech, paying close attention to the woman as if she could see them. Kira stepped around and took this chance to look down at the city a bit while the woman spoke. She did assume it was just a recording of sorts, so it wasn't a big deal.

Soon, the greeting ended and the doors opened. An overly excited blonde male made his way from the elevator a lot quickly than she had expected. If she hadn't noticed him, he likely would have knocked her over. "Aye..." she blinked a couple times as she stared at the blonde man rushing off. Everyone else made their way out before Kira even recollected her luggage. As she went to grab her things, the doors began to close with her inside. "Aye-ya!" she quickly jumped out with her luggage in hand, but the luggage was caught in the middle of the door. A few students began giggling at her. She sighed and with a flick of her wrist the doors reopened, allowing her to retrieve her belongings. The crowd of students was unexpected, but after noticing about ten more elevators it was understood. She looked around a little confused and wondering where exactly she could go from here. How was she supposed to find her way around?

She began looking around for an adult or two, but there didn't seem to be any. She saw more students over anything else. After listening in on a short conversation, she realized that students were actually greeting them, so where was hers? "Wakabayashi Kira? Wakabayashi Kira?" Kira looked toward a young girl, no older than herself. "U-Uh... yeah." she waved her arm in the air and hurried toward the lavender haired girl, "That's me." Upon reaching the young woman, Kira's confused and slightly shy attitude changed up. She pulled her large suitcase forward and dropped it down like there was nothing fragile inside. "Hey! I'm Kira, so you're my greeter, right?" she asked with a cheerful smile as she held out her hand, "Nice to meet you." Kira noticed the other standing near and smiled to her as well, "Are you part of our group too? I'm Kira, nice to meet ya!" Kira held her hand out to June as well, hoping the two were friendly enough to take it. "Heey... You were in my elevator. Didja see that guy rush out like that? Something tells me he wasn't new here. Are you new?" Kira was also a little on the excited side, but she tried to be as friendly as possible.

"So... Where do we go from here?"

PostSubject: Re: Touchdown [Open]   Touchdown [Open] EmptySun Oct 05, 2014 10:50 pm

Her green eyes became concealed behind her eyelids as she closed them, and allowed a big smile to overtake her face. One of her hands would escape from under the folds of her blue shawl, giving one single wave in the direction of the approaching company. Some people were just enthused to meet newcomers, she supposed, and she was nobody to deny them that. However, with her eyes closed, there was no mistaking it when she heard the sound of her name over the bustle of footsteps and jovial chatter in the background. It was quite distinct for someone to hear their own name, that just the single syllable would stand out among all the other noise. Her eyes opened back up to search the crowd with those emerald hues, until she found someone who locked her gaze back onto her and clearly appeared to be heading her way. Her mouth formed a small circle as if to say 'oh', as she observed this lady; she had hair colored like the lilac, neatly pulled to the left side of her head in a thick ponytail bundled by a black ribbon. Her uniform was similar to the woman in the video, sporting the Hephaestus insignia upon it. Surely this person is official, she thought to herself. June's brows tilted outwards and she gave a quiet, nervous laugh as she watched her clamber over to her, though, noticing the clumsy way that she moved. Some part of her hoped that she did not fall over and embarrass herself in front of everybody, especially when she represented such an academy with a huge name about it. Thankfully, such worries faded.

Michiko introduced herself to June as her greeter, and apparently her tour guide. June returned the smile and bowed her head toward the woman, trying to keep herself from looking inadequate or clumsy or slow or really anything bad. ''Hiya, Michiko.'' she said simply. She wanted to inquire about what exactly the greeter would have her do, but that would imply that she didn't have a clue. While that was true, she didn't want to look stupid either, so she held her tongue. When she raised her head, Michiko would then announce that there was supposed to be another with them, and it was almost as if a concrete question mark had popped over June's head, for she just furrowed her brow and remained speechless. She looked around for this mysterious third person as Michiko was, despite how pointless it would be without actually knowing who possessed the name. Thankfully, the work was done for her when a rose red joined beside them, identifying herself as Kira Wakabayashi. That was all fine and dandy, but then she decided to address June herself and it took her by slight surprise. Me? Now there was a solid exclamation point over her head because she jumped slightly and was dumb enough to open her mouth without thinking first, resulting in a light-headed ''Uhh...''

After a short moment, June shook herself from her lack of wits and managed to muster up a response for the other new student. ''Oh, yeah! Hiya, Kira. My name is June Kurosawa... it's nice to meet you too.''
It didn't matter that June had failed her mission to avoid seeming deficient in the first minute of arriving onto the campus, because Kira would then attempt small talk. Now June was not a stranger to communing with others... it just had been quite a deal of time between graduating middle school and now. It would take a bit of time to adjust back into her friendly, sociable character. ''Yeah... I'm glad that I wasn't too close to him when he decided to sprint through the doors.'' She punctuated her sentence with a small giggle and another big smile aimed toward Kira, hoping that neither of them would comment on how dumb she'd just made herself look. She mentally chanted to herself Please move on, please move on! so that it wouldn't become a subject of discussion, trying to hide the awkwardness behind this grin of hers. And then relief when Kira finally asked the question on her mind for her, causing her to return her focus back to their greeter, Michiko. She was truly interested in what was in store for her here... because she honestly didn't have an idea of what to expect. Judging from the splendor of what she could see from here, June could only predict it was going to be incredible.

Whatever it was, she had to admire what was built here, as she admired it over slightly over Michiko's shoulder. ''Academy City...'' she whispered in tangible awe, her eyes glowing with excitement.

Touchdown [Open] 2qmg382

''Hiya, Michiko.'' Michiko smiled and nodded back, happy that at least this was going smoothly. She was expected to take these people around Academy City, which in itself was a large job--but luckily enough, each of the four quadrants of the city were effectively symmetrical--give or take a few things, she thought, her mind wandering to Halcyon. It was not going to be too difficult a job to take them around, though Michiko honestly considered taking one of the monorails around to go to another, less restrictive quadrant. There would be less people there--but at the same time, most of the first years would be living in this quadrant until they decided to either remain or leave. She took a moment to look over June, taking in as many details as she could before being nearly caught and looking away as quickly as possible. She sighed softly as she tried to consider her pathing, not quite noticing the red-head bounding up towards the pair. "Hey! I'm Kira, so you're my greeter, right?" She took about half-a-second more to react to the newcomer, looking up slowly to meet a pair of bright blue eyes. Her cheeks reddened immediately as her voice sputtered out, "Y-y-y-yes, I'm your greeter." She held out her hand, and Michiko took another moment before taking it, trying to get her thoughts together, "Nice to meet you." She nodded, "S-same. I'm Michiko." She looked to the side, bringing her hand up to her mouth and faking a cough in an attempt to get rid of her blush. She sighed softly and looked back towards the pair, trying to get her head together as the pair had a small conversation.

Calm down Michiko. Calm down. She took a deep breath and folded her arms, looking up at the two again as they finished their little internal talk. "So... Where do we go from here?" Michiko was shocked out of another small stupor, and she attempted to hide the fact that she was surreptitiously checking out Kira's body. She swallowed slightly, wondering what that meant--and realized that her heart was beating exceptionally fast, and she wanted to just run and hide, and too many people and aaaahahhhhh.... ''Academy City...'' Michiko nodded, completely back on track now--mostly--and turned around, looking at the city behind her. "Don't worry too much about it. After a while, you get the know the streets like the back of your hand..." She looked down slightly and gave a soft smile, before looking at the pair again, "Come on, let's go. I'll take you guys through some of the lesser-known paths. It might help avoid the crowds." She gave the pair her best and most confident smile--ohgodohgodohgodohgod--before beckoning for them to follow her, leading them down a different path to the crowds. A few people looked to see the three cute girls walking away, but didn't think anything of it--and none of them dared to follow.

It took them a couple of minutes--during this time, Michiko started to explain the history of Academy City, as far as she knew it. "I guess you guys know the story, huh? Well I'll tell it anyway. There's an organization known as Hephaestus, and they built this school and city quite some time ago, in order to build up the powers of those who had them, and to teach understanding to those who did not," She grit her teeth, remembering Natalia's words, "and so here it is. It's not a pretty place--it seems quite modern, and that's because it definitely is. We have a monorail running through the city, with stops in each of the quadrants. We, as new students--I've only been here for about six to eight months--are here, staying in Alpha Quad. Once we hit third year, we're able to move to any of the other three Quads, since we need to make room for the new students." She looked around for a moment, realizing where they were and flourishing with her arms slightly, "Et voila, here is our first stop." If the girls looked around, they would see a few small and unassuming buildings, with a sign in front that said 'Alpha Infirmary Four'. She turned and looked at them with a smile, "There are five Infirmaries per Quad, and since this is closest to where you should be staying, this will be your place if you get sick. I live near here as well; in fact I'm pretty certain I live quite close to you two." She smiled and let them look it over, turning around and letting out a breath. Gah, this is stressfullllllllll.

Touchdown [Open] Header_zps2d28adc6

Both of these girls seemed nice and both were actually quite cute. The fact that both of them seemed pretty shy and awkward was absolutely adorable to Kira. She couldn't help but watch them act that way. She was the complete opposite and preferred to be a bit more social, so this was going to make their interactions quite interesting. Talking with June seemed more on the open side than with Michiko; she assumed Michi' was just a big shier, which was shocking since she was a greeter. Wanting to move along before she got bored, Kira hurried their little meeting along and asked where they'd be heading. Finally, Kira was able to get a real good look at the city. She heard June speak in awe at the marvel and couldn't blame her. "It's hard to see something like this being underground, especially with the falsified sky." Kira looked up to the clouds that gave the city a more realistic feel, "I assume being underground can dampen people's moods and made them feel a bit trapped after a while. Kind of a nice thing for the Academy to do, huh?"

Kira followed Michiko along as they made their way to the city. She was impressed with the size, but no matter what it was still a city. "I guess you guys know the story, huh? Well I'll tell it anyway. There's an organization known as Hephaestus, and they built this school and city quite some time ago, in order to build up the powers of those who had them, and to teach understanding to those who did not," At that moment, Kira felt a strange sense of worry coming from Michiko. She looked toward the young woman curiously and then shook it off. She knew it was something not to be bothered with when she didn't even know the woman. "and so here it is. It's not a pretty place--it seems quite modern, and that's because it definitely is. We have a monorail running through the city, with stops in each of the quadrants. We, as new students--I've only been here for about six to eight months--are here, staying in Alpha Quad. Once we hit third year, we're able to move to any of the other three Quads, since we need to make room for the new students."

"It's impressive enough for me... but it really is just a city. Is there anything to do besides go to the damn infirmary?" she said, sorta whispering to herself as she turned away. Kira didn't mean to seem offensive, but she had this annoying habit of getting bored very quickly, and it was already setting in. She knew it would happen, which is why she tried not speaking that too loudly, but she doubted she completely hid it. "Et voila, here is our first stop." If the girls looked around, they would see a few small and unassuming buildings, with a sign in front that said 'Alpha Infirmary Four'. She turned and looked at them with a smile, "There are five Infirmaries per Quad, and since this is closest to where you should be staying, this will be your place if you get sick. I live near here as well; in fact I'm pretty certain I live quite close to you two." "Ah... Awesome. We should totally have a "Girl's Night Out" one of these days." Kira smiled brightly to the both of them, a hand on her hips as the other showed a 'victory' or 'peace' sign toward the girls.

"So..." Kira went to wrap an arm around each of the girls to pull them in to a friendly hug, "What do you beautiful girls wanna do first? Is there anything we should check out around here? What do students do for fun?"

PostSubject: Re: Touchdown [Open]   Touchdown [Open] EmptyThu Oct 09, 2014 5:57 pm

The little blond was broken out of her awe-stricken stupor by her greeter, returning her gaze to the people who were talking with her rather than the wonders that lied in the background; one look was enough to commit it to memory, and there'd be plenty more time for sight-seeing throughout the next few years of her life. This was going to be her new home for a long, long while. So in that respect, Michiko was right to say she'd get used to these streets. It was Kira's comment, however, that incited a response from June. She noted that these subterranean areas could possibly have a slightly depressing effect on people, and while it was not necessarily incorrect, June felt the need to point out that it did not pertain to everyone. ''I don't know... it makes me wonder if bright and sunny is the only setting they have on that sky, because I was never fond of summery weather. I liked the rain. To me, it was calm and relaxing. I doubt they could simulate that though, or would want to.''

Getting past the small talk, the trio began their journey into Academy City, as Michiko gave them the typical tour guide rundown of the things they came across. June was not oblivious to the looks that they were receiving, but she did not understand them. It was just a random thing that she acknowledged, was slightly concerned by, but ultimately put it off as happenstance. It was better to focus on their flustered group leader as she educated them on the basics of Hephaestus and its layout. The history was something June was well acquainted with after several explications by various different people, but it didn't stop her from keeping an ear out for something that wasn't common knowledge. While this time, there was no such luck, she figured that if there were to be people to tell her new information, it would be the people actually inside the school. So without any comments on the matter, they began to close in on a line of nondescript buildings just as Michiko pointed out that this was essentially the First Year's infirmary. Academy City was divided up into sections, each likely with the same necessities you'd see in any old city above ground; it was easy to forget that this was just an academy, after all.

Kira, quite close to her already, whispered some dissatisfaction that was in no way overridden by the babble of the crowds, especially to someone with excellent hearing such as June. Impatience was being displayed and they barely had begun, which again was something about the girl that just caught her off guard. Considering that it was in the middle of Michiko's rhetoric, she didn't want to disrupt anything, but she couldn't help but give Kira a glance to see that she wasn't paying much attention. June wondered briefly if the redhead was going to be one of those popular students that was core in nearly every academic community—beset in a large ring of other like students who were idols to the rest of us, far more interested in their own activities than the actual education. If June considered, she figured that Kira had no evident flaws and seemed like a social butterfly from first impressions. Not much thought was given to the theory, but it was likely at the very least. Without sparing more effort on that, she came out of her speculation to see both females smiling widely, making her feel out of place again. She was late to the party with her own awkward grin.

''Ah... Awesome. We should totally have a "Girl's Night Out" one of these days,'' said the scarlet-haired one, clearly the most outspoken out of the three of them. June faltered momentarily at the suggestion, her eyes clouding for a moment as she replied after a short pause. ''...I'm going to be focusing on schoolwork at night. I don't think I'd be able to join.'' The way she spoke was lacking any life whatsoever, sounding weak and melancholy and nearly as quiet as Kira's earlier whisper. However, when she felt the girl's arm wrap her up and pull her into a hug, clarity returned to the blond and she looked herself again. There was clearly going to be no escaping this one's liveliness; being pulled into such close proximity with two girls she had just barely met so that their bodies were pressed against each other... well there was no point in really denying her embarrassment at this point. A red tinge began to work its way up her neck, and June could feel its heat burning at her. ''Ahh...''

Pointedly, June would break from Kira's grasp for some breathing room, and poke her hand out from under her shawl to pat her outfit down as if it had some dust on it or something. She looked down at her feet, trying to shake off the unease by not making eye contact with either of them, until she managed to pull herself together. June was a stranger to hugs; she didn't really receive them in her lifetime, and she didn't feel as if what just happened was entirely appropriate. If they sought apologies for her rude behavior, then she'd give them that. But... she wasn't comfortable hugging or being hugged, especially from people she has yet to really befriend. ''I don't... I don't think we finished the tour yet, Kira-san...'' It was only after the fact that June realized that Hephaestus was technically submerged below the country of China, and that her mannerisms from Japan would probably be lost upon them, but it was too late to change that. She'd correct that for future instances.

"Ah... Awesome. We should totally have a "Girl's Night Out" one of these days." While she wasn't exactly the most suited to working out exactly what the state of mind regarding another person was, she was pretty damn certain that Kira was bored with her tour. She almost wanted to cry inside; she'd failed. She was a bad hostess. She was terrible, bad, horrible, ahhhhhhhhh. ''...I'm going to be focusing on schoolwork at night. I don't think I'd be able to join.'' Michiko wanted to make a little frown, but instead tried to hold herself to as good a standard as she could, watching the pair with quiet eyes. Suddenly, Michiko yelped as she was pulled in close to Kira for a strange hug thing. Her chest pressed up against, and she felt her body warming up with the proximity. She closed one eye and made another yelp noise as Kira spoke, "What do you beautiful girls wanna do first? Is there anything we should check out around here? What do students do for fun?" Michiko made one more noise and pulled away, shivering a little bit but regaining some of her composure; ''I don't... I don't think we finished the tour yet, Kira-san...'' Michiko brushed herself off and sighed. "There's really not much to show. Every student gets a map, I don't really see a point to the tours, though," She allowed herself a small giggling blush, "New friends are always a bonus." She smiled to herself and turned around, looking to see where they were--she pretty much knew this quadrant like the back of her hand, so finding her way to wherever she wanted to be wasn't going to be hard, "You guys don't have anything tomorrow... but the day after that you'll have to go into the actual Academy and be greeted there--that's not much of a ceremony." She tapped her foot on the ground.

"I know what we could do; there's a pretty nice shopping centre with an arcade close by. I know I'm supposed to be showing you guys around, but there aren't eyes watching us. I doubt they'll care." She smiled and nodded, pretty certain that this solution could work. Hopefully with their approval, she began to lead them in that direction, internally panicking despite her rather calm outer demeanor. If all went well, she could show them a good time, and the general 'middle' of the Quad. If not, then she'd have to improvise. She remained open to any questions that the pair had along the way.

"I know we haven't finished the tour, but wouldn't it be fun to kinda... I don't know... do something that wasn't a part of the tour?" Kira asked, letting both of them go and rubbing the back fo her head, "I mean, come on, we'll get to know this place over time. One tour isn't going to help much..." "There's really not much to show. Every student gets a map, I don't really see a point to the tours, though." "Ha! See... We'll get a map and stuff, so we can to the responsible thing later. We just arrived at in the only underground magic school, right? Why don't we enjoy some time before class, make a few friends, and then the year will be so much better for us!" "New friends are always a bonus." Kira placed her hands on her hips and listened to Michiko as the lavendar haired girl contemplated what to do.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Kira gave a thumbs up to Michiko once she seemed to come up with an idea and then looked excitedly to June, "Come on, you up for it? There's no way that you want to just take a tour and head to the dorm-things, right?" Kira once again placed herself between Michiko and June, wrapping an arm around each of them and began pulling them along. "Let's go check out the arcade, I'll even pay for a few games and something to eat." Kira said with a smile and a slight attempt to bribe June to come along. If June really, really didn't want to come along, she'd understand and probably go off on her own. She just could not see herself walking around and looking at all of the school buildings. Kira got bored way too easily and she'd end up falling a sleep against a wall or something.
