Position Definitions:Generals: The Grand General is the top gun of Alpha Protocol. All final decisions are made by the person who holds this position. The Generals below the Grand General are those that this person has
trusted to be loyal and follow the Grand General's lead. Trusted being the key word in that last sentence. Each General will be responsible for two Departments of Alpha Protocol, (Department of War, Department of Intelligence, or Department of Social Welfare). The Generals are also named for which part of the world they are entrusted to watch over. The American General watches over both North and South America. The Eurasian General watches over Europe and Asia, while the Oceanic General watches over Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and the other islands.
Captains and Other Ranks: Captains are the leaders of their Division, Agency, or Bureau. They take their orders from their Generals and can some times be left to make the decisions on their own. Captains are to be quite knowledgeable within their unit and also
trusted by the Generals above them. Other ranks, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Major's, and Privates are those who have done things to deserve the positions, or are on entry level. Each take their orders from the rank above, Private being those who merely follow until they've been promoted.
Department of WarArmed Services Division: Members of the Armed Services Division are fighters, plain and simple. The ASD handles everything from deploying forces to handle combat situations to deploying (if requested and reimbursed) assistance for certain organizations. They also handle combat training for those within Alpha Protocol.
Covert Operations Division: The Covert Operations Bureau is a part of Alpha Protocol that does not officially exist. It has gone by many different names in the past (Sector Seven, Operations and Response, etc.), and each time it has been redone because of a failed operation. Any orders that go to this Division come from the Grand General and the General in charge of the Department of War.
Department of IntelligenceCounter Intelligence Agency: While it shares an acronym with the former Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, the Counterintelligence Agency is a lot like the Central Intelligence Agency. These guys work in ways meant to take out the enemy's covert operations-style members spying on Alpha Protocol.
Bureau of Technology: Members of the Bureau of Technology handle research and development, as well as helping with technology users in Alpha Protocol. The BOT handles designing the security systems for Alpha Protocol's bases as well.
Department Of Social WelfareInternal Affairs Agency: Members of the Internal Affairs Agency deal with the inner workings of Alpha Protocol. The IAA handles everything from internal strife between members to considering promotions for those within the lower ranks of Alpha Protocol. They also send budgets up to the General's for approval.
Human Health Agency: Members of the HHA handle the health of members of Alpha Protocol. However, the HHA also helps with deploying relief for disasters and combat aftermath. They will heal anyone fighting for the good of Earth or caught in the crossfire, regardless of race. They also have many hospitals for the general public scattered through out the world.
Note: Just because you're a member does
not mean you're stuck at a desk doing paperwork all day. It means you can be on call. If you're a part of the Armed Services, you'll be on call to fight. If you're in the Human Health Agency, you'd be called in to help for disasters. The only exceptions are those of the Bureau of Technology, where you're a scientist and pretty much have to be there. It really depends on what you want for your characters, but know that you are not restricted. Captain's and Lieutenants are required for meetings every now and then. This is NOT an actual RP thread meeting (it can be if wanted), but something you could use as a plot point or things along those lines.
